ATHENS, Ohio (April 27, 2000) -- A memorial service for Amanda Cartee will be held at 2
p.m. Sunday, April 30, in Galbreath Chapel on Ohio University's Athens
campus.
Cartee's husband, Andrew, and her mother, Ronale Mitchell, will read
poetry written by Cartee at the service.
Cartee, who was a sophomore in the College of Education and resident of
McArthur, was killed in an automobile accident Feb. 22 on Route 93 south of
Wellston.
The service will be followed by a tree dedication on campus and a
reception hosted by Cartee's friends and colleagues from Alden Library,
where she was employed in Archives and Special Collections.
"Amanda was loved by many on the campus," said Interim Dean of Students
Terry Hogan. "The service will be a time to reflect on her life and the
legacy she has left behind at Ohio University."
