Finishes Seventh in Lady Buckeye Spring Invitational
COLUMBUS, Ohio (April 23, 2000) -- Junior Julee Sovesky (New Castle, Pa.) shot a two-round
154 to lead Ohio to a seventh-place finish at the Lady Buckeye Spring Invitational on Friday,
April 21, and Saturday, April 22.
The Bobcats were tied for second with Michigan State after Friday's first-round action with a 314.
However, the squad faltered in the second round by seventeen strokes to post a final round score of
331 to end the event in seventh, with a 645. Michigan State won the tournament with a 624.
Sovesky's 154 was just three strokes behind the medalist Kasey Grant of Michigan State. Her
fourth-place finish is her eighth time in the top 10 in nine events. She has also led the Bobcats in
five of its nine tournaments this season.
Senior Heather Fueger (W. Lafayette, Ind.) closed the tournament with a 158 to tie for 17th. Tied
for 54th, freshman Diane Rubin (Paris, Ohio) and Senior Hayley Amerine (South Bloomingville)
each scored a 168 for the Invitational. Julie Harter (T60) with a final score of 169 and Aimee
Fronczak (68) with a final score of 171, round out the scoring for the Bobcats.
The Bobcats travel to Franklin, OH next weekend for the Mid-American Conference
Championships on April 28-30. Kent will play host to the three round event at
Waldon Ponds GC.
