Courtad Places Seventh at U.S. Freestyle Nationals

Las Vegas, Nev. (April 24) -- Ohio wrestling senior Tim Courtad (Aurora) finished seventh at the 2000 U.S. Freestyle Nationals Wrestling Championships held on April 21-22 in Las Vegas, Nev.

The top six placewinners in each weight class qualified to compete at the 2000 Olympic Team Trials, while the champions earned automatic entry into the championship series at the Olympic Team Trials.

Courtad, who was wrestling for the Bobcat Wrestling Club, went 4-2 at the championships. He took a seventh-place finish after winning by injury default over Billy Blunt of Raleigh, NC. Courtad had finished first at the Mid-American Conference Championships and fifth at the NCAA Wrestling Championships in March.
