HUNTINGTON, WV (April 18, 2000) -- Junior pitcher Sara Gulla swatted a game-winning three-run home run in the bottom of
the seventh inning to give Marshall University a 4-1 victory that completed a sweep over Ohio in Mid-American
Conference softball action from Dot Hicks Field Tuesday. Marshall also won the opener, 4-1.
With the score tied, 1-1, sophomore Nichole Corrigan singled to lead off the bottom of the seventh inning. After
Corrigan was sacrificed to second and sophomore Vanessa Clarkson was intentionally walked, the stage was set for
Gulla.
In the opener, Marshall broke open a tie ball game, 1-1, with three runs over the fifth and sixth innings.
Sophomore Tiffany Bolton paced the Bobcats with 3-of-5 hitting in the doubleheader. Freshman Kelli Bankert
added a pair of hits with her 11th double of the season.
Junior Kasey Dowd garnered the loss in the first game, while Heather Hagen recorded the loss in game two.
Ohio travels to Miami for three games on Friday and Saturday.
