Athens, Ohio (April 14, 2000) -- Have you ever sat down to a formal dinner and wondered
just what to do with all the silverware, how to eat the cheese-coverred French
onion soup or which way to pass the rolls? The sixth annual Professional
Etiquette Seminar from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, April 27, at Ohio University's
Baker Center will answer these questions and many more.
"The session will be primarily on dining etiquette, but there will
also be information on professional dress," said Angela Lampson, assistant
director for employer relations at Career Services. "It's an event that can help
enhance professional style and polish social skills. People who have taken it
love it because they actually participate."
A five-course meal will be served during the seminar, which includes
lectures and question-and-answer sessions with Ohio University employees
certified in professional business and dining etiquette by At-Ease Inc., a
business etiquette consulting firm in Cincinnati.
The seminar is particularly important for students or others
interviewing for jobs, according to Robbyn Matthews, an assistant director at
Career Services.
"It gives them a leading edge in a job interview," Matthews said.
"It's the subtle things that people notice that may make a difference."
Tickets for the seminar are $15 and must be purchased in advance at
185 Lindley Hall, 601A Copeland Hall or 169 Stocker Hall. For more information,
