ATHENS, Ohio (April 12, 2000) -- Sophomore catcher Scott Brownlee (Tallmadge) drove home four runs and
senior right-hander Jeff Rook (Fairfield) gave another solid pitching performance as Ohio defeated
Duquesne, 11-4, in college baseball action on Wednesday, April 12, at Bob Wren Stadium.
The Bobcats scored four runs in the first inning behind RBI doubles by Brownlee, sophomore
Mike Arbinger (Toledo) and senior Brian Wingfeld (Shelbyville, Ky.). After junior Ryan Kyes
(White Lake, Mich.) singled home senior Matt Reed (Zanesville) in the second, Brownlee added an
RBI triple and scored on Rook's single. Ohio added four more runs in the third, highlighted by
Reed's two-run single.
Rook (3-2) pitched five strong innings for the win, only giving up three runs while striking out four
and walking two. Sophomore Casey McKinney (Troy) then pitched two innings giving up one run,
and junior Adam Svala (Toledo) pitched two scoreless innings to close out the game. Duquesne's
Craig Antolik (2-1) earned the loss after giving up seven runs in 1 2/3 innings for the Dukes.
Ohio will travel to Kent for a pair of Mid-American Conference doubleheaders on Saturday, April
15, and Sunday, April 16.
