Athens, Ohio (April 11, 2000) -- The College of Business is hosting two lectures on
sexual harassment issues April 14 by Ohio State University College of Laaw
Associate Dean Camille Hebert.
The first lecture, "Sexual Harassment in the Workplace," is from 3:30
to 5 p.m. in Irvine Auditorium and is open to the public. Later at 5:30 p.m.,
she will present an invitationonly session on "Sexual Harassment in Academia."
Hebert teaches seminars on employment discrimination, sexual
harassment and worker privacy at the College of Law. Her research interests
include employment discrimination, sexual harassment, employee privacy and
alternative dispute resolution.
"It is important to raise awareness of sexual harassment among
graduating seniors who will be taking jobs in the workplace," said Catherine
Axinn, chair of the College of Business' Ethics, Diversity and Professional
Leadership Continuous Improvement Team. "In their eagerness to please new
employers, fledgling workers may not always be aware when situations stray out
of bounds and the alternative responses available to them. In addition, it is
critical for people in power -- faculty and administrators -- to keep current in
their understanding of what behavior is appropriate to avoid even inadvertent
transgressions."
