HUNTINGTON, W Va. (April 4, 2000) -- The Ohio outdoor track and field teams swept Marshall in a dual
meet held on Tuesday, April 4, in Huntington, W Va. The women's team took 13 first place finishes
to defeat the Thundering Herd, 105-63, while the men's team edged out Marshall, 82-81.
Senior Katie Geib (Erie, Pa.) led the Bobcats with her win in the high jump competition, her
third-straight win in the event. Freshmen Jana Dearth (Bluffton, Ohio) and Kerra Brown (Mt.
Vernon, Ohio) also took top finishes. Dearth won the 100-meter dash, while Brown's first-place
finish came in the 400-meter dash with teammates sophomore C'Rai Weeden (Cleveland, Ohio) and
senior Sarah Yeager (Fremont, Ohio) rounding out the top three finishes.
For the men's team, Ohio junior Steve Schaub (Canton, Ohio) won the 110-meter hurdles event.
Schaub also ran the 400-meter hurdles events and posted a time of 56.61. Other top finishers for
the men's team included sophomore Curtis Karim (Cincinnati, Ohio) and junior Kwasi Apraku
(Silver Spring, Md.). Karim took first place in the 400-meter dash, while Apraku won the triple
jump event.
Ohio's next competition will be at the Miami Invitational on Saturday, April 8, at 11:00 am.
