ATHENS, Ohio (March 31, 2000) -- Ohio University will host the premiere of "28 Days," the
latest movie directed by Ohio University alumna Betty Thomas, in
Templeton-Blackburn Alumni Memorial Auditorium at 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 5.
Betty Thomas directed and co-produced the Columbia House film, a dramatic
comedy starring Sandra Bullock. Bullock plays a successful New York writer
living in the fast lane who gets drunk with her boyfriend, borrows her
sister's wedding limo and earns herself a stay in court-ordered
rehabilitation.
Thomas, who graduated with a bachelor's degree in fine arts in 1969, also
is known for her Emmy-winning role as Lucy Bates on the 1980s television
drama "Hill Street Blues." Other movies she has directed include "Private
Parts," "The Brady Bunch Movie," "Can't Hardly Wait," "Dr. Doolittle," the
HBO film "The Late Shift" and the HBO comedy series "Dream On." She
currently has a deal with Sony Pictures Entertainment/Columbia to direct
and produce nine other films.
"28 Days" opens nationwide April 7. Admission to the premiere is free.
