Ohio Men's and Women's Track and Field Place 2nd at Navy Meet
ANNAPOLIS, Md. (March 25, 2000) --
Annapolis, Md. (March 25, 2000) - The men's and women's track and field teams both placed second at a meet
hosted by Navy in Annapolis, Md. on Saturday, March 25. Five first-place finishes by two men and two women
helped the Bobcats to a second-place finish behind Navy.
Senior Katie Geib won two events for the Ohio women's team, winning the 800-meter dash and tying for first place
in the high jump. Sophomore Mary Williams won the discuss throw with the top measurement of 39.24 meters.
Other top finishers for the women were senior Juli Algire (shot put) and sophomores Sara List, Martine Ward and
Anne Lawhun who all took second-place finishes. List and Ward tied for second in the high jump, while Lawhun
placed second in the 3,000-meter run. Ward also placed third in the triple jump event.
For the men, it was senior Dennis Russo and junior Steve Schaub who led the Ohio team. Russo won the javelin
throw, while Schaub took a first-place finish in the 110-meter hurdles. Schaub also placed second in the 400-meter
hurdles. Other top finishers for the Bobcats were junior Brett Williamson, who took third in the javelin, and Logan
Strohm, who placed second in the long jump.
Ohio's next meet will be on Saturday, April 1, when they compete in the McDonalds Invitational.
