TAMPA (March 21, 2000) -- The Ohio University softball team split a double header
with South Florida, losing the first game 11-3 in five innings and winning the second,
3-1 on Tuesday, March 21 at the USF Softball Complex.
In game one, USF scored first in the bottom of the second when with runners on second
and third, Lea Mishlan hit a sacrifice fly, scoring Stephanie Roberts from third.
Ohio fought back scoring three in the top of the fifth, to cut the USF lead to 7-3.
However, South Florida put the game away, scoring four more in the bottom of the fifth to
end the game, 11-3.
Jessi Kowal (13-9) was credited with the victory, giving up three runs on three hits.
In the second game the Bobcats scored three runs on eight hits. Ohio scored three in
the top of the third to give the Bobcats a 3-0 lead. USF mustered up a run in the bottom
of the third but could not capitalize on a no-out bases-loaded situation.
Ohio's Heather Hagen (2-3) earned the victory giving up one run on five hits.
Jamie Peterka was credited with the loss allowing three runs on seven hits while striking out seven.
Ohio's Crystal Turner went 1-for-3 with an RBI an a run scored in the contest.
