Ohio Women's Golf Team Wins Springlake Classic
SEBRING, Fla. (March 11, 2000) -- Three Bobcats finished in the top six as the Ohio women's golf
team posted a nine-stroke victory on Saturday at Northern Illinois' Second Annual Springlake
Classic in Sebring, Fla. Junior Julee Sovesky (New Castle, Pa.) posted her second-straight par 72
to finish at 144 and earn co-medalist honors.
The Bobcats open the spring season with the victory, shooting a two-round 597. Ohio topped
Southwest Missouri State by nine strokes and held a 15-stroke advantage over third-place Arkansas
State. Jessica Polus of Southwest Missouri State helped her squad to the second-place finish, tying
Sovesky for medalist honors at 144.
Senior Heather Fueger (W. Lafayette, Ind.) posted a tie for third place, four strokes behind the
leaders at 148. Sophomore Candace Artz (Stow) tied for sixth with a 150, while freshman Diane
Rubin (Paris) tied for 13th with a 155. Senior Hayley Amerine improved her round by four shots
on Saturday to finish with a 166.
The Bobcats will take a few weeks off for exams and Spring Break before traveling to Campbell
University's Fighting Camel Classic on April 3-4 in Buies Creek, N.C.
