Ohio Baseball Falls to West Virginia, 9-7
ATHENS,
Ohio (March 8, 2000) -- The Ohio baseball team dropped their game against West Virginia today, 9-7.
Despite keeping the game close, the Bobcats were unable to finish off the Mountaineers after West Virginia posted
four runs in the fifth inning.
Ohio senior Jeff Rook and sophomore Mike Arbinger led the team at the plate. Rook scored two home runs into
left field in two consecutive at-bats. The homers were numbers three and four for Rook this season. He also had a
single, two runs, and two RBI. Arbinger also had a good day with his three hits, one run, and one RBI.
Other highlights for Ohio included junior Ryan Kyes and sophomore Scott Brownlee. Kyes produced a hit and a
run, while Brownlee had a hit, run and a RBI. Juniors Andrew See and Jeremy Johnson both hit doubles for the
Bobcats.
The Bobcats will be traveling to Clemson on Mar. 10-12 to take on the Tigers. Ohio's record drops to 3-4-1, while
West Virginia improves 2-11 on the season.
