Jackie Rees Ulmer named dean of the College of Business

Ohio University President M. Duane Nellis and Executive Vice President and Provost Elizabeth Sayrs announce that Dr. Jackie Rees Ulmer is the new dean of the College of Business, effective February 1, 2021.

Dr. Rees Ulmer currently serves as the Union Pacific Professor of Information Systems and Associate Dean for Professional Masters Programs in the Ivy College of Business at Iowa State University.

“The College of Business is one of OHIO’s treasures,” President Nellis said. “It is my pleasure to welcome Dr. Jackie Rees Ulmer, an extraordinary and enthusiastic leader in business education. She has a compelling vision for business education that will inspire future generations of industry leaders.”

Dr. Rees Ulmer received her Ph.D. in Decision and Information Sciences from the Warrington College of Business at the University of Florida. She previously served as the Associate Dean for Undergraduate Programs and chair of the Department of Supply Chain and Information Systems in the Ivy College of Business at Iowa State University. Before joining Iowa State, she was previously an associate professor in the Krannert Graduate School of Management at Purdue University.

“Dr. Rees Ulmer brings outstanding experience as an administrator, faculty member and scholar to Ohio University’s College of Business, and I am grateful to the search committee for identifying such a strong leader from a distinguished pool of candidates,” Provost Sayrs said. “She is exceptionally well prepared to lead the College of Business into the next chapter of its storied history, and I have no doubt she will lead the college to even greater success."

The College of Business Analytics and Information Systems (AIS) Full Professor Promotion Committee unanimously granted her tenure and Professor status in the AIS department at Ohio University.

In her new role, Dr. Rees Ulmer will be the first woman to serve as dean of Ohio University's College of Business – one of the top business schools in the nation.

The search committee for Ohio University’s dean of the College of Business was announced in October 2019 following current dean Hugh Sherman’s announcement that he would step down after serving for 13 years as dean and the Corlett Chair of Strategy in the College of Business.
