ATHENS, Ohio -- The Kennedy Museum of Art invites you to a special graduation event: Graduation Photo Days! On June 13, 14 and 15, the Kennedy Museum will be open for extended hours to offer a unique opportunity for a graduation photograph.
Bring your new graduate and a camera for a special opportunity to take your own portraits in an international backdrop at the museum.
For example, you can pose with family and friends in a "moon prop" backdrop and take a circa 1910 style photographic trip to the moon! Backdrops include a man in the moon photo prop, where you can a sit down and take a classic turn-of-the-century shot; fascinating and vividly colored Central American scenes resplendent with airplanes, fast cars and angels; pastoral scenes from China; and mosques and highly adorned interiors from India, to name just a few.
"From the Background to the Foreground: The Photo Backdrop and Cultural Expression" is a vibrant exhibition featuring approximately 20 different backdrops from Asia, Africa and the Americas. From hand-painted quilted pieces to extravagant studio objects, the exhibition also includes hundreds of 19th- and 20th-century photographs, contemporary and folk art, various objects and props, interactive installations, audio and video recordings and texts.
