ATHENS, Ohio -- Ohio University Without Boundaries is accepting course proposals for the Winter Intersession 2003. Please consider this teaching opportunity during winter break, Dec. 1-19.
Courses are offered in a compressed format and may meet one, two or three weeks during this time period. The length of time required will depend on the faculty preference, credit hours and format.
We hope to continue offering students a variety of courses during this break period. The majority of courses offered are for seniors. Last year, 17 Tier III courses were taught. Other offerings included courses that either appeal to a great number of students, such as Business Law 255, or courses that appeal to a small number of students and are major-specific, such as PESS 270. More than 450 students participated in Winter Intersession courses last year.
Please consider the teaching possibilities that would provide the greatest benefit to your students. Course grades for Winter Intersession will appear on the Winter 2004 grade report. Fees for Winter Intersession classes are paid separately and are not part of either Fall or Winter comprehensive fees.
Therefore, registration for a Winter Intersession course will not prevent a student from registering for 20 credits during the regular Winter Quarter. Library hours will be extended during the three-week period to accommodate student and faculty needs. Faculty will be paid on overload contract using overload pay scale for Winter Intersession courses.
Deadline for submission of planning documents is July 26. A delay in placing a course in the schedule of classes has a negative effect on the course enrollment. Students begin checking for Winter Intersession courses during the summer. All approved courses will be listed and regularly added to the registrar's Web page but for inclusion in the printed schedule, courses should be submitted as soon as possible.
