ATHENS, Ohio -- Mexican students and professors will visit Ohio University from May 2-15 to collaborate on a project assisting local businesses interested in exporting goods to Mexico. Eleven students and three professors from the University of Guadalajara, Mexico will be welcomed by the Global Learning Community of Ohio University.
This project is similar to one that began in October 2002 when students from the GLC traveled to the University of Guadalajara to work with the Mexican students and businesses. The GLC students experience in Mexico was outstanding.
GLC student Elaine Paulus said, "I really enjoyed the experience of working with students from Mexico and getting to know them. The experience of working internationally with students and giving a presentation to a client was a fun challenge and very rewarding."
After the success of this joint consulting project, the Mexican students wanted to initiate a second project where the roles of the students would be reversed. Some of the projects include working with southeastern Ohio companies such as EZ Grout, Diamond Export, Carabourundum, Global Cooling and Twin City Frozen Foods.
In preparation for the project, GLC students researched their client's business and industry while they communicated with their Mexican teammates via the Internet and a teleconference.
