ATHENS, Ohio -- University Program Council is proud to announce that Ana Gasteyer will be speaking at Ohio University on Wednesday, May 14, at 8 p.m. in the Baker University Center Ballroom.
Gasteyer's lecture will provide a look at the role of women in comedy today with a funny, educational and entertaining twist.
The comedienne is best known for her six-year run on NBC's "Saturday Night Live" where she created memorable characters such as music school teacher Bobbie Moughan-Culp, NPR radio host Margaret Jo, Lilith Fair poetess Cinder Calhoun, as well as spot-on impressions of Martha Stewart, Celine Dion and Hillary Rodham Clinton.
In addition to SNL, Gasteyer performed in Eve Ensler's acclaimed off-Broadway hit "The Vagina Monologues," debuted on Broadway as Columbia in "The Rocky Horror Picture Show," and continues to perform on stage in New York, starring in the Manhattan Theatre Club's production of "Kimberly Akimbo."
"Ana Gasteyer's lecture promises to be entertaining," said UPC Cultural Arts Chair Dirk Dusthimer. "Her performances on broadway and 'SNL' show that she is talented."
Tickets for the event are $3 for students and $5 for the general public. Tickets will go on sale Monday, April 28 2003 at noon in the Templeton-Blackburn Alumni Memorial Auditiorium box office.
