ATHENS, Ohio -- Ohio University officials announced today that President Robert Glidden has reached a final decision on the presidential appeal of the Delta Pi Chapter of Sigma Chi Fraternity, Inc.
Glidden decided to suspend the chapter for a period of three years beginning April 21, 2003. "I have engaged in a thoughtful review of this case and have decided that suspending Delta Pi Chapter for a period of three years appropriately addresses the chapter's record of misconduct and communicates Ohio University's stance that Greek letter organizations must maintain high standards and comply with Ohio University policies and procedures."
The Delta Pi Chapter of Sigma Chi Fraternity, Inc. will be considered for recolonization at Ohio University beginning Sept. 1, 2006, if the chapter satisfactorily complies with a series of conditions established as a part of its disciplinary suspension, including a prohibition from participating in any way as a Greek letter organization for the duration of its period of suspension.
This decision by President Glidden amends the five-year suspension originally imposed on the Delta Pi Chapter by University Judiciaries on Feb. 25, 2003.
