ATHENS, Ohio -- University Program Council is pleased to feature performerShawna Corder in concert live at The Front Room in Baker University Center onThursday, April 10 at 8 p.m. Admission is free and all are welcome.
Shawna, an extremely diverse talent, has performed in a variety of circles. Someof her more recent accomplishments include opening for Trick Pony, STYX, SawyerBrown and Paul Anka. She has also shared the stage with other personalities likeMark Farner of Grand Funk Railroad, Tug McGraw, "Mudcat" Grant and Jon Warden.
The Ohio State University graduate was a finalist in the USA Network's"Nashville Star Local" competition and in WNCI's "Making a Diva" contest last year. Shehas also sang the National Anthem for the Cleveland Indians, the Columbus Crewand NHRA races. For a number of years, Corder performed the theme song for Longaberger's breastcancer awareness campaign, "Horizon of Hope."
While holding titles such as Miss Central Ohio, she was a finalist, runner up and talent winner competing in the Miss Ohio Scholarship Program. Shawna has also been fortunate to perform forthis nationally televised event and this June she will make her fourth appearance as a featured entertainer.
"Shawna is known for having one of the best voices in Ohio," said Dirk Dusthimer,UPC cultural arts chair. "We are honored that she is coming to play in Athens, amusic plethora itself!"
Corder has recorded two holiday albums, both of which sold out. She recentlyreleased her first solo album, which features a combination of patriotic andinspirational selections.
