ATHENS, Ohio -- Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, March 14, for Ohio University student Terris Ross at Fremont Christian Church, 1133 County Road 41, Fremont, Ohio, with viewing beginning at 10 a.m. A viewing will also be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, March 13, at Wonderly-Horvath Funeral Home, 425 E. State St., Fremont.
The university will provide transportation for students wishing to attend the funeral, with a bus departing at 6 a.m. Friday outside of Baker University Center. Passengers should board the bus by 5:45 a.m. and can sign up at Lindley Cultural Center, 52 Lindley Hall; Multicultural Programs, 205 Baker University Center; Dean of Students Office, 202 Baker University Center; and Office of Diversity, ground floor of Cutler Hall.
Ross, a student in Ohio University's College of Business, died in an off-campus shooting Sunday morning.
"We're also working with Terris' family and friends to arrange a memorial service on campus," said Terry Hogan, Dean of Students. Though a date had not yet been determined, Hogan expected the event would be held in early spring quarter.
Counseling services continue to be available for Ohio University students at Hudson Health Center.
Friends of Terris Ross are planning two events on campus to remember him:
- Wednesday, March 12, at 7:29 p.m., friends will gather at the Ohio University grafitti wall for "Expressions of Memory for Terris Ross." The wall is adjacent to Bentley Hall Annex, at the top of the Richland Avenue bridge on campus.
- Thursday, March 13, at noon, friends will gather at the Howard Hall site for a prayer vigil. The site is at the corner of College and E. Union St., across from the College Green on campus.
