ATHENS, Ohio -- An array of interactive displays will focus on whole-person wellness during the 12th annual Ohio University Health and Wellness Fair in the Ping Student Recreation Center from noon to 5 p.m. Wednesday, March 5. Nearly 30 vendors representing campus and community groups are expected to participate in the fair, which focuses on students' physical, emotional, spiritual and academic wellness.
Among the unique displays are chair massages by licensed massage therapists, blood pressure tests, ergonomics of computer use to cut down on back pain caused by bad computer posture, screening for severe migraine headaches and tips for enjoying a safe spring break.
In addition, students will have the opportunity to explore possible internship, co-op and job opportunities and ways to become involved in the Athens community through volunteerism and other community service opportunities.
"The event focuses on the things that impact students now and throughout their lives," said Char Kopchick, director of Health Education and Wellness. "The wellness fair is planned by students and is intended to benefit their peers. We want to make students aware of the services that are available to help them, both on campus and in the community, and to let them know of ways to contribute to the community."
The wellness fair is sponsored by the Department of Health Education, Division of Student Affairs in collaboration with several academic areas and is part of Celebrate Every Body Week on campus. Updated information will be available on the Health Education and Wellness Web site, www.ohiou.edu/healthwell/ .
