Poet Patricia Goedicke to read from work

ATHENS, Ohio -- Award-winning poet Patricia Goedicke will read from her work at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 26, in Galbreath Chapel on the Ohio University campus. A reception will follow the reading.

Goedicke is the author of 12 books of poetry. Her most recent book, "As Earth Begins," was named one of the top ten poetry books for the year 2000 by the American Library Association. She has received a National Endowment for the Arts Creative Writing Fellowship, a Pushcart Prize and a William Carlos Williams Prize, among others.

Goedicke received her master's degree in English from Ohio University in 1965. She will receive a Distinguished Alumni Award from the College of Arts and Sciences at ceremonies on Friday, Sept. 27. She currently is a faculty member in the Creative Writing Program at the University of Montana in Missoula.
