WOUB/WOUC­TV to air State of the Union Address

ATHENS, Ohio -- WOUB-TV and the WOUB Radio Network will air the 2003 State of the Union Address with President George W. Bush on Tuesday, Jan. 28, at 9 p.m. The address will focus on the President's three goals for the United States: winning the war on terrorism, protecting the homeland and conquering the current recession.

Prior to the State of the Union Address, WOUB/WOUC­TV will air "Crisis in Conflicts: The 108th Congress" at 8 p.m. "Crisis and Conflicts" will present profiles of and interviews with Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist (R-TN) and Minority Leader Tom Daschle (D-SD), Speaker of the House Dennis Hastert (R- IL) and House of Representatives Majority Leader Tom DeLay (R-TX) and Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA).

The program will be anchored by Jim Lehrer, executive editor and anchor of "The NewsHour with Jim Lehrer," and will feature taped reports delivered by "NewsHour" senior correspondents Gwen Ifill, Ray Suarez and Margaret Warner; Capitol Hill correspondent Kwame Holman; and health correspondent Susan Dentzer. Lehrer will be joined by political analysts Mark Shields (syndicated columnist) and David Brooks (senior editor of The Weekly Standard and correspondent for The Atlantic Monthly. Shields and Brooks will share their thoughts on what lies ahead for the Congress.
