ATHENS, Ohio -- To help prospective graduate students prepare for the GRE, GMAT or LSAT exams, Ohio University Community and Professional Programs has developed a workshop to provide opportunities to concentrate on the skills needed for a good performance on these tests.
Actual past exams and simulated materials will be used to teach question types and test strategies including: test-taking techniques, time-saving methods, logical reasoning, verbal ability and math competence.
"Your score on the GRE, GMAT or LSAT is by far one of the most important factors on your application to the graduate program of your choice, so we developed a thorough preparation course that would help prepare our students to succeed on these difficult exams," said Lisa S. Dael, program coordinator for Community and Professional Programs.
The classroom lessons are a combination of lecture and review. The lectures give a detailed review of the concepts found in the tests. Test-taking strategies also will be discussed and homework reinforcement modules will include simulated test problems.
After the students complete their assignments, the instructor will discuss test questions. The course materials use several types of skill-building exercises, practice drills (partial problems) and remedial work. Instructors will administer practice tests using actual computer-based exams.
The winter quarter program is scheduled from Jan. 25 to Feb. 15 and the spring quarter program will run between April 12 and May 10. For a detailed schedule or for more information, call Community and Professional Programs at (740) 593-1764. The cost for GMAT and GRE prep courses is $450, while LSAT prep courses cost $375. Fees include all materials. Online registration is available at www.ohiou.edu/noncredit/prep.htm .
