ATHENS, Ohio -- The Ohio University Bicentennial Committee and localsinging trio The Local Girls are sponsoring a songwriting contest for anupcoming CD celebrating the university's 200th birthday.

The CD will feature a collection of favorite old campus songs arranged andperformed by an all-university cast including alumni, students and current faculty andstaff.

Any alumnus, faculty or staff member or current student of Ohio University iseligible for the contest. However, the lyrics must contain words identifiable tothe university, campus, buildings and/or related Ohio University activities.

The song must have a strong melody with timeless quality. It can be serious orsatirical, but it must be singable and good. The song must be an original melodywith original lyrics. All parties in collaborations must be former or currentOhio University students or staff.
