ATHENS, Ohio -- Ohio University's Office of the Registrar has announced that it will no longer send quarterly grades and class schedules to students via U.S. mail, but will continue to electronically e-mail the grades and schedules to each student's Oak e-mail address.
Grade reports are automatically sent to the student's Oak e-mail account as soon as grades are available; this is approximately one week after the close of a quarter. Schedules are automatically sent to the student's Oak e-mail account approximately two weeks prior to the start of the quarter, the weekend of the first week of the quarter, and on the 15th calendar day of the quarter.
Students will still be able to access their grades and schedules online at the Office of Registrar Web site at www.ohio.edu/registrar/ or by accessing the Touch-tone Registration and Information Processing System (TRIPS) via telephone. The student's Oak e-mail ID and password are required to access these services via the Web and the student PID number and registration access code (RAC) are required to access these services via telephone. The grade report or schedule may be viewed and printed online through the Web browser or sent to the student's Oak e-mail account.
Students should be urged to activate their student Oak accounts in order to access online services and to receive important messages sent from across campus. Communication Network Services (CNS) provides online help in managing a student Oak account at www.cns.ohiou.edu/email/ .
The change is an effort by the university to become more cost and time efficient. Paper copies of grades are mailed only to certain students, including those on academic probation and students enrolled only for workshops. Paper copies of schedules will no longer be mailed to any student.
It is estimated that the changes in grade and schedule distribution will annually save the university about $65,000 and will deliver more detailed information to the student sooner than mailed paper copies.
