Ohio Field Hockey ranked tenth in the nation and first in the MAC
ATHENS, Ohio -- Ohio field hockey moved up three places to No. 10 in the national poll ending the week of Oct. 21. The Bobcats (12-4 overall, 7-1 in the Mid-American Conference) have been ranked in the top twenty for six-consecutive weeks earning their highest ranking this week following a successful weekend defeating Miami 9-0 and No. 14 Louisville 3-2 in overtime.
"It is really great to be in the top ten", said head coach Shelly Morris. "We have been playing tough teams all season, and finally, we have received top recognition. I think the ranking is an ego booster for the players and it will help them continue to be successful and consistent the rest of the season."
Adding to this success, the Bobcats moved to the No. 1 position in the MAC earning a third 1st place ranking of the season. "Coming out and defeating Kent and Louisville helped us succumb to the pressure. We have a really good chance in remaining the top team in the MAC as long as we play together and win our last two regular season games."
This weekend, the Bobcats will be on the road making their first stop at Central Michigan on Oct. 26 and then proceeding to Ball State on Oct. 27 to complete regular season competition.
