ATHENS, Ohio -- Award-winning poet Kathy Fagan will read from her work at 8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 24, in Galbreath Chapel at Ohio University in Athens. The reading is presented by the Program in Creative Writing of the Department of English at Ohio University and is free and open to the public.
Fagan is the author of The Raft and MOVING & STORAGE. Her poetry has appeared in The Southwest Review, The Denver Quarterly, The New Republic and The Kenyon Review. Fagan has received a Pushcart Prize for Poetry, Ohio Arts Council Individual Artist Fellowship in Poetry and the Vassar Miller Prize for Poetry.
She is an associate professor at the Ohio State University, where she co-edits the literary magazine The Journal. Her book, The Charm, is forthcoming from Zoo Press in 2002.
Poet Jane Hirshfield describes Fagan's poems as "both revealing and resistant: deeply felt, deeply communicative, yet avoiding any easy lyricism."
