ATHENS, Ohio -- Ohio University chemistry professor and club rugby coach Anthony Andrews, 35, died Saturday, Sept. 1. Andrews, who primarily taught undergraduate students in forensic chemistry, joined the Ohio University faculty in 1994.
"He will be very much missed," said Howard Dewald, graduate chairman for the chemistry department. "He was a caring teacher who was deeply interested in his students. He was energetic and often at the forefront in the department in the use of information technology. He directed the forensic chemistry program with enthusiasm and was a strong advocate for the major and program."
A memorial service was held Tuesday in Galbreath Chapel on campus. The family requests that donations be made in Andrews' name to the National Resources Defense Council through the council's Web site: www.nrdc.org/joinGive/join/honor.asp or to the Ohio University rugby team. The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry is establishing a scholarship fund in Andrews' name. To contribute, contact Carolyn Khurshid, (740) 593-9831.
