Students: Register to Vote!
Ohio University students will have the opportunity to shape the future of the United States this November, but the deadline to register is Oct. 9!
The Office of the Dean of Students is encouraging students to register to vote in this year's Nov. 6 general elections. To qualify to register, a student must be a U.S. citizen, 18 years of age or older by the general election day and an Ohio resident for at least 30 days.
Registration forms are available at Baker University Center in The Front Room and Dean of Students Office, window No. 1 at the Registrar's Office in Chubb Hall, Ping Center and Alden Library. They can also be found at Boyd, Jefferson, Shively, Nelson and Bromley dining halls. Students who are already registered to vote can use the voter registration form to update their registration information if they have changed their address or name.
Once students have filled out a form, they can put a stamp on it and place it in the mail. The form must be postmarked by Oct. 9, and the county board of elections will notify new voters of the location where they will vote.
Any students who have questions about the registration form, dates, deadlines and getting involved should contact the Dean of Students Office at 593-1800. Information is also available by calling the Athens County Board of Elections office at 592-3201.
