Bromley Hall Hosts American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund-Raiser on Friday
ATHENS, Ohio -- More than 95 Ohio University students and staff have teamed up to support the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund as part of the grand opening celebration of Bromley Hall. The fund-raiser will be held at Bromley Hall, located at 35 S. Congress St., from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday, Oct. 5, and is open to students and community members.
The event will feature a car wash and a benefit luncheon with games and door prizes. Tickets for the luncheon can be purchased at the event for $7.25. For every meal purchased, $2.25 will go to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund. The menu will include an entrČe choice of grilled steak or chicken. A vegetarian meal and a baked potato bar also will be available.
"The idea for the event evolved from one of the Bromley Hall residents who wanted to do something to help the victims of the Sept. 11 attacks on the World Trade Center," said Nikki Meier, Bromley Dining Hall general manager. "We decided to incorporate the fund-raiser into our grand opening in order to raise money for the victims' families and show that we care."
Bromley opened as an Ohio University residence hall in September after being purchased by the university last spring. The nine-story building received $1.8 million in additions and renovations during the summer.
