ATHENS, Ohio -- Members of the 2001 freshman class at Ohio University in Athens got their college careers off on the right foot, both literally and figuratively, with the march to the College Green Monday, Sept. 3. Following the President's Convocation, the new Bobcats followed "The Most Exciting Band in the Land," Ohio University's Marching 110, for the trek up Richland Avenue and through the College Gate.
Following the procession to campus, the Marching 110 gave a brief concert on the College Green.
Classes for fall quarter 2001 begin Tuesday, Sept. 4.
The colorful, festive event captures the symbolic first steps that the freshmen are taking in beginning their college careers. Ohio University prides itself on both challenging students and in supporting them during their college careers.
Throughout the first month of the academic year, numerous activities are planned to introduce new students to the many activities offered at Ohio University and to help them make the transition to college life.
