Emmy Award-winning 'Gridiron Glory' returns to WOUB/WOUC-TV

ATHENS, Ohio -- WOUB/WOUC-TV's Emmy Award-winning program "Gridiron Glory" made its fourth season debut on Friday, August 16, at 11:30 p.m. "Gridiron Glory" is a half-hour program that will air every Friday night featuring comprehensive scores and highlights of high school football throughout the region. Each week the news and sports departments from Ohio University Public Television will travel to various high schools for clips and interviews.

"Gridiron Glory" will bring the game home to viewers, delivering cutting-edge high school football coverage. The captain of the "Gridiron Glory" production team will be Coordinating Producer Kyle Stichtenoth. Stichtenoth is a senior broadcast journalism major from Slidell, Louisiana. This season's host will be Bryce Anslinger, junior broadcast journalism major from Miamisburg, Ohio. The producer of this season of "Gridiron Glory" is Ken Laschinger, senior broadcast journalism major from North Olmstead, Ohio. In addition, senior and technical directors are Jill Rader, senior video production major from Coolville, Ohio; Ellen Sagun, senior video production major from Steubenville, Ohio; and Donald Henley III, senior video production major from Erial, New Jersey.

Viewers who tune in on Friday nights will notice many changes since the program's 1998 debut, including a revamped studio and graphical presentation. "Gridiron Glory" not only provides viewers with the most up-to-date and comprehensive coverage of high school football, but it also provides students with "live" television experience and invaluable training for sports writers and reporters. "Gridiron Glory" is a student-produced program, and is based solely on students who volunteer their Friday nights and their time to make the production come full circle. High school football is one of the most important times in young people's lives, and "Gridiron Glory" is a one-stop half-hour program that will bring coverage of the evenings events.

"Gridiron Glory" will be an interactive program that will reach out to high school students and their families. It will be available to viewers via television and through the World Wide Web at woub.org/gridiron Featured games for Friday, August 23, include the following area high schools: New Lexington vs. Logan, Nelsonville-York vs. Athens, Marietta vs. Morgan, Gallia vs. Meigs, and Belpre vs. Warren.

The Ohio University Telecommunications Center, a unit of the College of Communication, operates two television stations -- WOUB-TV/Channel 20 in Athens and WOUC-TV/Channel 44 in Cambridge -- one cable channel -- WOUB II -- and six radio stations -- WOUB-1340 AM, WOUB-91.3 FM, WOUC-89.1 FM, WOUH-91.9 FM, WOUL-89.1 FM and WOUZ-90.1 FM.
