ATHENS, Ohio -- The Ohio Association for College Admission Counseling (OACAC) Summer Institute 2002 will be held on Ohio University's Athens campus Sunday, Aug. 4, through Tuesday, Aug. 6. Approximately 100 college admission representatives and high school guidance counselors will attend the conference, which will be held at various campus locations including Bromley Hall, the Ping Student Recreation Center and Baker University Center.
The OACAC Summer Institute is a program designed to orient new admission professionals to the field of recruitment and provide an outlet to discuss important topics to both new and experienced high school guidance counselors. Program sessions are created by an experienced team of admission and counseling professionals around topics they believe will be useful to the audience. Many times, admission counselors will learn about travel tips, reviewing applications, territory management, ethics, presentations and other essential elements of becoming a new OACAC professional. Concurrently, counselors will discuss issues surrounding placement testing, the college search process, methods to help students and their parents and other hot topics.
The Ohio Association for College Admission Counseling (OACAC) is the statewide organization serving high school guidance counselors, college admission representatives, and any other person or groups interacting with students regarding post-secondary education. OACAC seeks to assist students in the transition from secondary to post-secondary education through articulation among the counselors of these students.
