ATHENS, Ohio -- Ohio University's Classified Senate announces that Harold Archer has been named the non-bargaining Classified Employee of the Month for May 2002. Archer, who has worked at Ohio University for 21 years, is a maintenance repair specialist at the university's Lancaster campus.
Sharon Huge, director, Hannah McCauley Library, nominated Archer. "Each and every time I have asked Harold to perform a task, he has responded with a smile and a can-do attitude. Harold has found many creative ways to save the university money. To name one, he has been refinishing useable furniture that had been worn and scarred by years of use and abuse and turned it into beautiful and better-than-new items. In this time of financial strain, Harold has restored several solid oak tables, that are now being used by our students and staff, saving the library and the University thousands of dollars. I consider Harold's 20 plus years of service, while still smiling and still trying to find innovative ways of doing the work of maintenance, to be consistently dependable. He never shirks or delays or ignores jobs that need to be done, and he takes pride in what he does, but is always modest in accepting praise," she said.
Archer's photo and award information is posted on the Classified Senate Web site at www.ohiou.edu/csen/eothm.htm and will be sent to his planning unit's head for prominent display.
