ATHENS, Ohio -- Ohio University Facilities Management has announced a street closing to accommodate campus work projects.
Beginning Monday, June 24, South Green Drive near the Wolfe Street Apartments will be closed for re-routing of the road way. Access will be maintained for emergency vehicles only. The planned work to re-route South Green Drive will straighten the road. The road closure portion of the project should last three weeks. The anticipated completion date of the entire project is Sept. 1 (the street closure was originally scheduled for June 17, but the contractor working on the project changed the it's time table).
In addition, parking lot 79, the new portion (across from Nelson Commons where the old tennis courts were located) and all of Parking Lot 80 will be closed as part of the South Green Drive road project. These lots will remain closed through Sept. 1.
To travel around/through campus it is suggested that a driver take South Green Drive to University Terrace then travel north to access Race Street, Park Place or Union Street. Stewart Street can be reached by traveling east on Race Street.
This road work project will result in the closing of Parking Lots 79 and 80. These lots will remain closed for the length of the project. Ohio University Parking Services has asked that drivers to campus be reminded that all dark green and purple lots are open to the public during the summer months (no permit required). In addition, all university garages are open to the public during the summer months for parking as well. Richard Shultz is the project manager and can be contacted at the Facilities Planning Office.
