Summer work projects begin across campus June 10

ATHENS, Ohio -- Ohio University Facilities Management has announced that a number of summer projects will begin Monday, June 10.

  • Saturday June 22, there will be a planned electrical outage lasting approximately six hours in Lasher, Haning, President Street Academic Center (PSAC), Old Heating Plant (OHP), Old Bentley, and the South Bridge Tunnel. The outage will begin at 7 a.m. and last until 1 p.m. The power outage will allow high voltage maintenance cleaning in Lasher, Haning and PSAC. KAL Electric will also be installing an electric meter in the Haning switch at the Old Heating Plant. Dave Mace is project coordinator.

  • The northeast side of Parking Lot #133 (next to Peden Stadium) will be closed. The lot closure will be for the duration of the Peden Stadium field installation project, which is expected to be completed mid-August. The Planning Office's contact for the project is Dick Planisek who can be reached at 593-2727.

  • The renovation to the School of Art office in Seigfred Hall will begin. The project is scheduled to be completed on August 31 and will include the removal and replacement of the hallway ceiling outside the present office 528. This work will involve ROOM CONTAINMENT because of the nature of the ceiling materials. The ceiling work should be completed by June 20. Construction work should begin following the June 20th completion date. During this renovation the School of Fine Arts offices will be relocated to room 328 on the third floor. Project manager Howard Fokes can be reached at 593-0092.

  • Work crews will be in several classroom buildings across campus throughout the summer months. Work is scheduled to take place in Alden 101H and 101K; Ellis 015, 031, 103, 109, 110, 112, 119, and 212; McCracken 113; R-Tech 201,215, 214, 303, and 314; and 7 Stocker 166.

Due to the nature of materials in the Ellis and McCracken Hall projects ROOM CONTAINMENT will be in place. This ROOM CONTAINMENT work will begin on June 12 in Ellis Hall and on June 26 in McCracken Hall. Overall the work will include general renovations. The completion date for all work is scheduled for August 31. Project manager Howard Fokes can be reached at 593-0092.

Workers will attempt to cause the least amount of disruption to building occupants and have instructions to cease work if they interrupt your ability to perform your duties.

Facilities Management apologizes for any inconvenience these projects may cause. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the Customer Service desk at 593-2911.
