ATHENS, Ohio -- Rosemary Pennington, a graduate of Ohio University with a degree in broadcast journalism from the E.W. Scripps School of Journalism, has been named news managing editor for WOUB Radio and Television.
Pennington is a native of Minford, Ohio, in Scioto County. She interned with CNN in London, England, and was named one of the outstanding students for her undergraduate work by professors from the Scripps School of Journalism. This recognition was based on her caliber of work produced as well as her leadership skills. Pennington has also been recognized by the Ohio Associate Press Broadcasters Association and the Hearst Foundation for outstanding radio features and radio news productions.
Pennington was also selected and will be attending the Best Practices in Journalism Political Storytelling Workshop in San Francisco June 22 and 23. The Workshop only accepted 25 professionals nationwide.
Pennington's responsibilities in the newsroom include supervising Ohio University undergraduate students and assisting with the production of the evening news program, Newswatch, which airs weeknights at 6:30 p.m. on WOUB/WOUC-TV. Pennington is integral in the training of reporters in the newsroom. She covers television newscasts in addition to producing radio news stories and features.
