Ohio University graduate students to premiere thesis films

ATHENS, Ohio -- Ohio University graduate film students Cigdem Altuntas, Joonhee Park and Danilo Serbedzija will screen their thesis films Saturday, June 1 at 7 p.m. in Seigfred Hall's Mitchell Auditorium. The screening is free and open to the public.

Altuntas will premiere her thesis film, "Spare Change," a short narrative about a woman who discovers she's a character in someone else's dream. A collection of her previous films will follow.

Park will present his thesis film, "Myth in the Winter," a surreal story about a happily married woman who discovers she's pregnant with a pig. Park also will present three short films of his previous work. His films have been screened at several film festivals including Athens International Film and Video Festival and he has received several awards.

Serbedzija's thesis film, "Mussels in Wine," is a six-minute real time story of a man trying to commit suicide. Serbedzija also will present a collection of his earlier films, "The Federalization of Attica," "The Penalty" and short documentary "Berto from Jakovci" that shared the first prize in documentary at the 2002 Athens International Film and Video Festival. He collaborated with Rajko Grlic on Grlic's feature documentary "Croatia 2000 - A Time to Remember" and is working on his own feature documentary to be completed this summer.
