WOUB/WOUC-TV's local series 'intouch' to highlight Kweisi Mfume
ATHENS, Ohio -- WOUB/WOUC-TV will broadcast a special edition of "intouch," featuring Kweisi Mfume, on Saturday, June 1 at 6 p.m. The episode will be hosted by Caryn Bailey, interim grants and special projects manager for WOUB Radio and Television. Bailey will be joined by Mfume, president and chief executive officer of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP). Mfume is also a former Congressional representative for the state of Maryland.
Mfume and Bailey will discuss America's agenda when it comes to race and his activity in several stages of government. As a member of the Baltimore City Council in Maryland, Mfume led efforts to diversify city government, improve community safety, enhance minority business development and divest city funds from the apartheid government of South Africa. In 1986, Mfume was elected to the Congressional seat that he would hold for the next 10 years before accepting the position as President and CEO of the NAACP. In the House of Representatives, Mfume consistently advocated minority business and civil rights legislation. He has been a constant advocate for the African American community in America.
