ATHENS, Ohio -- The Ohio University Police Department has arrested a suspect in an attack on a female Ohio University student the afternoon of Saturday, May 18, after a woman reported being assaulted in a stairwell of Bush Hall, a residence hall on East Green.
Two other Ohio University students helped to subdue the suspect until officers arrived. He is currently being held in the Multi-County Regional Jail in Nelsonville on bond.
Police are investigating the suspect's possible involvement in other similar incidents on campus recently. There have been six other incidents on campus in the past week where women have reported being assaulted by a male suspect in or around residence halls.
In accordance with the Student Code of Conduct, the student has been placed on Presidential Interim Suspension, a measure designed to bar him from campus immediately, pending a hearing.
