ATHENS, Ohio -- A paleontologist examines how the facial features of dinosaurs helped the prehistoric beasts breathe, eat and survive. Engineers create smart robots that can play soccer and rescue victims from a disaster site. These are just a few examples of the scientific research under way at Ohio University, the focus of a new television series debuting on WOUB, Ohio University Public Television, Sept. 19.
"Science Spotlight" is a video news feature that will take viewers into the laboratories of the university's scientific innovators, offering a first-hand look at research on everything from the environment to headaches to dinosaurs.
The series will be broadcast during WOUB's evening news program, "Newswatch," which airs from 6:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. weekdays. "Science Spotlight" will appear on the third Wednesday of every month between September and May.
The program also can be viewed online at www.ohiou.edu/sciencespotlight/. The Web site includes further information about the research projects, including links to related stories and sites.
"Science Spotlight" is a collaboration among WOUB, Ohio University's Office of Research Communications, part of the division of the Vice President for Research, and University Communications & Marketing, part of the University Advancement division.
