ATHENS, Ohio -- David Imig, president and CEO of the American Association of Colleges for Teacher Education, will be on campus this week. He will speak with faculty members involved in teacher preparation from the colleges of Education, Arts and Sciences, Fine Arts and Health and Human Services at 3 p.m. Thursday, May 2, in Baker University Center room 332.
Imig will speak about national issues facing teacher preparation and professional development at 10 a.m. Friday, May 3, in Anderson Auditorium in Scripps Hall.
"He is perhaps the best informed and most articulate spokesperson for teacher preparation in the nation," said James Heap, dean of the College of Education. "It is an honor to have him join us for what promises to be informative sessions."
Imig has more than 30 years experience in educational practice, research and policy. In addition to his work with AACTE, he is an Advisory Commissioner to the Education Commission of the States and a member of both the National Policy Board for Educational Administration and the Executive Board of the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education.
