Ohio University will observe the 50th Anniversary of Administrative Professionals Week

ATHENS, Ohio -- Offices around the world will observe the 50th Anniversary of Administrative Professionals Week on April 21 to 27, celebrating a half century of accomplishments by administrative professionals. Ohio University will join in the celebration, where Administrative Professionals Week will be highlighted by five events in Athens.

  • The week will kick-off with a reception at the Ohio University Inn April 22 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.
  • The Station Street Restaurants is hosting a morning buffet April 23 from 7:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. at Toscano's on the patio.
  • A trade fair with games, prizes and refreshments will be held at the Amerihost Inn, April 24. Avery Dennison will close the week with a Great Results Productivity Seminar from 11:30 to 1:00 pm. Lunch will be provided. These events are free, but pre-registration is required.
  • The Athens Chapter of the International Association of Administrative Professionals (IAAP) will sponsor a lunch seminar April 25 from noon to 4:00 p.m. in Nelson Commons. Keynote speaker Stephen Douglas will lead a humor-filled motivation presentation "Managing Your Stress."

The seminar fee is $48, and registration is still open. To sign up, contact Lisa Dael, Community and Professional Programs, at (740) 593-9925.

IAAP suggests that employers observe Administrative Professionals Week by providing relevant training for their administrative staff through seminars, continuing education courses or self-study materials. Another suggestion is to make a commitment to delegate responsibilities that better utilize the full complement of skills possessed by administrative professionals.
