ATHENS, Ohio -- Ohio University is planning a two-week summer trip to the United Kingdom -- and you're invited! Sponsored by the College of Fine Arts and the School of Art, the trip will run from August 10 to 25.
Vacationers will spend 10 nights in London, followed by short excursions to Edinburgh and Bath with stops at Stonehenge and Salisbury prior to their return. In London, attendees will reside in Russell Square, Bloomsbury, which is in the heart of the city. The Underground, British Museum and some of London's finest bookshops are within walking distance.
A half-day tour of London will familiarize travelers upon arrival. Other special activities include attending three plays, including a night of Shakespeare at the New Globe Theatre. For the avid golfer, the trip offers the opportunity to play on some of the sport's most historic courses, both in Scotland and England. Casual sightseeing and shopping await those who choose to visit York on the return to London from Edinburgh.
School of Arts faculty will be on-hand to guide attendees through some of the world's finest museums. London is home to a thriving arts scene, as vacationers can examine works from Michelangelo, Leonardo, Van Gogh, Dali and contemporary masters. Summer exhibitions including Rubens, Matisse/Picasso and Lucian Freud await travelers.
