Poetry reading salutes Women's History Month

ATHENS, Ohio -- Ohio University Professor Erin Belieu will present "A Poetry Reading" at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 12, in the Friends of the Library Room at Alden Library. Her reading is sponsored by the Friends of the Libraries and is a tribute to Women's History Month in March.

Belieu is assistant professor in the Creative Writing Program in Ohio University's Department of English. She is an award-winning author of two books of poetry, Infanta (1995) and One Above & One Below (2000) and co-editor of The Extraordinary Tide: New Poetry By American Women (2000). Both Infanta and One Above & One Below were named notable books by the National Book Critics Circle. Her work has appeared in publications such as The New York Times, The Atlantic Monthly, The Yale Review, TriQuarterly and The Best American Poetry.

"We are delighted to have Professor Belieu," said Catherine Brown, program committee chair for the Friends of the Library. "She is an excellent voice for women and this is a fitting way for the Friends to recognize Women's History Month."

The program is free and open to the public.
