ATHENS, Ohio -- Ohio University's Classified Senate honored Janis Carnahan as the non-bargaining Classified Employee of the Month for February 2002. Carnahan is records management assistant in Community and Professional Programs, and has worked at Ohio University for the past two years. Michael Greenfest, director of Community and Professional Programs, nominated her.
"Janis brings to her position good humor, grace, charm and wit. She always keeps in mind that the customer, our students, come first and that often visitors to Ohio University first contact is through her and Community and Professional Programs and that their first impression is vital to developing a productive partnership with our clients. She uses technology to assist customer service, not block it, and she has put a very human and personal face on services that can easily become impersonal," Greenfest said.
Carhahan says she enjoys working at Ohio University. "It is a well respected university and I am proud to say I work here. My job entails working with a diverse group of people and I truly enjoy it."
The monthly award is made based on nominations submitted by members of the university community for any non-bargaining unit, classified employee who is setting standards for excellence and innovation by promoting unity, community, continuity and visibility. Award winners show outstanding individual achievement, contribution, innovation and performance of their jobs.
