ATHENS, Ohio -- The work of 31 Ohio University School of Art faculty artists -- representing ceramics, graphic design, painting, photography, printmaking, sculpture and art education -- will be on display at the Kennedy Museum of Art Feb. 16 through April 14. An opening reception, featuring live music and refreshments, will be held at the museum from 7 to 10 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 16. The exhibition and reception are free and open to the public.
"Many of the works in the exhibition were created as a result of research grants awarded by the Ohio Arts Council, the Ohio University Research Committee, the Baker Fund and the John Simon Guggenheim Foundation," said interim School of Art Director Robert Lazuka. "The works are an eclectic mix of styles, materials and concepts demonstrating the depth and breadth of our award-winning faculty."
Included in the show are a video of faculty talking about their work and a special reading room where visitors can read published and professional work of art history faculty and articles, books and catalogues about the exhibiting artists' work. The reading room also will house a collection of biennial faculty exhibition posters created in a graphic design class competition.
Gallery tours are available on Saturdays at 1:30 p.m. to provide details about the exhibit and provide historical information about the building.
The Ohio Arts Council helped fund this exhibition with state tax dollars to encourage economic growth, educational excellence and cultural enrichment for all Ohioans.
