Ohio University Diversity Career Fair returns Feb. 6

ATHENS, Ohio -- The annual Diversity Career fair, sponsored by Career Services, will host representatives from more than 50 nationally recognized businesses and organizations on Wednesday, February 6, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Convocation Center.

Recruiters will meet with Ohio University students and alumni to discuss permanent, internship, summer and co-op positions. Transportation from Baker Center to the Convocation Center will be made available throughout the day for Ohio University students, alumni, faculty, administration and staff interested in attending the fair. Students are encouraged to dress professionally and bring copies of their resume.

"The Diversity Career Fair is an event that attracts organizations that are committed to hiring a diverse workforce," Assistant Director of Career Services William Fournier said. Some of the companies that will be represented are AEP, Bank One Corporation, Cardinal Health, Dispatch Broadcast Group, EDS, Honda of America, Southern Ohio Medical Center, State of Ohio Centralized Recruitment Office. "Students and employers will be able to discuss diversity, as well as other aspects of an organization's culture. Understanding an organization's culture plays an integral role in determining the success and happiness of an employee," he added.

"Last year, nearly 900 students attended the Diversity Career Fair. Based on our on-campus interviewing activity this quarter, which has been high, we anticipate a large number of students will attend this event," Fournier said.

In addition to the Mock Interview Program, Career Services offers an ongoing series of workshops that can help prepare students to most effectively use the fair. These seminars are open to all students. Each seminar is about one hour in length and seating is limited.
